Airbus A340 - Emirates

Emirates is a very ambitious airline from Dubai, one of the United Arab Emirates. The airline flies an all-widebody fleet including the Boeing 777 and 747F, plus the Airbus A300, A330 and A340. The airline is also the biggest customer for the Airbus A380.

Part of the fleet are eight Airbus A340-300 aircraft as seen on the picture. Emirates also flies ten A340-500s. Most of the A340-300s are ex-Singapore Airlines aircraft. Boeing offered Singapore Airlines to buy them in exchange for an order for 777s. The ex-SIA A340-300s entered service with Emirates in 2004. The aircraft on the photograph is approaching Frankfurt Airport early in the evening.
